Edible Soybean Variety

There are increasing opportunities for organic soybeans for both export and domestic markets. The soybean breeding and genetics project at the University of Minnesota continues to develop special purpose food type varieties adapted to Minnesota. There are several varieties available for testing and licensing. There are also opportunities for growers to produce grain of licensed varieties. Information on varieties and seed supply can be obtained from the Minnesota Crop Improvement Association or the soybean breeding and genetics project in the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics in the College of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences at the University of Minnesota or the Southwest Research and Outreach Center at Lamberton.
