It is also rapidly becoming a significant venue for research and outreach on topics such as recreational trails, equine studies and renewable energy. UMore Park’s location on the edge of one of the most rapidly growing areas in the Twin Cities presents many opportunities for studies of impact of urban growth into traditionally agricultural areas.

At Umore Park…

UMore Park supports a large variety of both faculty and student research projects focusing on soybeans,k potatoes, small grainings, vegetable production, forages, soil fertility, plant pest management, turkeys and beef program. Specific programs pertain to:

  • potential effects of transgenic Bt corn in soil ecosystems
  • genetic resistance to late blight disease of potato
  • crop residues and the survival, production and control of fusarium inoculum
  • forage yield variety trials
  • switchgrass adaption and biomass production
  • soybean breeding and genetics
  • control and landscape ecology of soybean aphid
  • market turkey nutritution and management
  • beef carcass merit program
  • impact of tillage practaces on carbon recycling
